Chapter 374 - Speak Mandarin Campaign?
Hmm. I had a little bit of a shock earlier on the train when I was listening to the latest Avril Lavigne CD (the Best Damn Thing), because for a moment, I couldn't be sure whether my ears were playing tricks on me - Avril Lavigne was singing in MANDARIN?!?!?!?! And then I took a double-take, replayed the track, and sure enough, she was singing in Mandarin! It's actually quite amusing - you have to listen to it! ("No way no way!")

[pS: you need Shockwave/Flash]

And if you wanna sing along to it, here are the lyrics. (or if you couldn't quite figure out what the hell she was saying)

Hey hey you you
我不喜歡你女朋友 (wo bu xi huan ni nu peng you)
No way no way
Hey hey you you
我可能会是你的女朋友 (wo ke neng hui shi ni nu peng you)

Hey hey you you
No way no way
Hey hey you you
我要当你的女朋友 (wo yao dao ni de nu peng you)

You're so fine I want you mine you're so delicious
I think about you all the time you're so addictive
Don't you know what I can do to make you feel alright (Alright...)

Don't pretend I think you know I'm damn precious
And hell yeah, I'm the mother fucking princess
I can tell you like me too and you know I'm right (I'm right...)

She's like so whatever
You could do so much better
I think we should get together now
And that's what everyone's talking about

Hey hey you you
我不喜歡你女朋友 (wo bu xi huan ni nu peng you)
No way no way
Hey hey you you
我可能会是你的女朋友 (wo ke neng hui shi ni nu peng you)

Hey hey you you
No way no way
Hey hey you you
我要当你的女朋友 (wo yao dao ni de nu peng you)

I can see the way, I see the way you look at me
And even when you look away I know you think of me
I know you talk about me all the time again and again (Again and again...)

So come over here and tell me what I wanna hear
Better, yet, make your girlfriend disappear
I don't wanna hear you say her name ever again (And again...)

Because...

She's like so whatever
And you could do so much better
I think we should get together now
And that's what everyone's talking about

Hey hey you you
我不喜歡你女朋友 (wo bu xi huan ni nu peng you)
No way no way
Hey hey you you
我可能会是你的女朋友 (wo ke neng hui shi ni nu peng you)

Hey hey you you
No way no way
Hey hey you you
我要当你的女朋友 (wo yao dao ni de nu peng you)

(Uh)
In a second you'll be wrapped around my finger
'Cause I can, 'cause I can do it better
There's no other, so when's it gonna sink in
She's so stupid, what the hell were you thinking?

(Uh)
In a second you'll be wrapped around my finger

Chapter 373 - 36hours/day
Gee, the past 3 days have been quite busy! Sometimes, I even forgot I was a student/teacher. [w00t! ;p] Yeah, if only there were 36 hours in a day, I'd use that extra 12 hours for sleep.. :)

If you've been to my Facebook profile in the last couple of days, you'd have noticed that I've changed my profile picture, and that I've uploaded albums after albums of wakeboarding pics! Wakeboarding was sooooo much fun - did it on Tuesday with Lester (the hermit comes out of hiding), and Weining. And it's a lot harder than it looks! (Kenny has new found respect for the wakeboarders he sees on TV... no more of those "wah lau, why they fall so easily!" comments from me. ;p) Yah, and our instructor Ed is so good, like buy durian like that, confirm PAO1 JIA4(包吃) one.. If you wanna go try out wakeboarding, make sure you get the contact from me! (and it's only $58 for students for an intro session - 1 hour each! chip chip)

Ok lah, the photos! Show the good ones first lah hor...

i think i need a hair cut! my hair looks so huge in all the pictures!

ooh, the board shorts that made all the difference... (well, compared to Lester's balloon pockets..) [eh, stop staring at my legs!]

Weining and his tricks... he was trying to perfect "Superman".. ;p

And apparently, I was making lots of cheeky expressions - it wasn't intentional!

And of Lester - see? Wakeboarding is damn fun!

Of course, not it's not as rosy at it seems lah... You can vote for who had the most spectacular fall...

Spectacular Fall #1 (Kenny)

Spectacular Fall #2 (Weining)
So spectacular that you couldn't see where Weining was... ;p

Spectacular Fall #3 (Lester)
Hmm, Lester falling in with a grin on his face (i bet he was cursing deep down inside...)

And at the end of the day, us and the pro...

Lester was having 2nd thoughts about putting his arm around the pro...

Chapter 372 - I Still Miss You!

Some 10 months on, I am still missing Pierre so much.... and knowing that there's no way to reach him fills my heart with sorrow.

I write this because I dreamt about Pierre last night, and in my dream, Pierre was every bit as "Pierre" as ever - he was in his usual stage blacks, and wore that smile of his. I could have sworn that there was a lanyard round his neck with a backstage pass of some sort. He felt so real in the dream that I was convinced I was living in a different dimension where Pierre was still alive - and of the many thoughts that ran through my head (in my dreams), I remember one clearly and that was, "I'm so glad you're back with us Pierre!"

And while writing this post, I've decided to indulge in the memories of Pierre for a bit more, and I found the video of the memorial service, that I didn't get to watch back then. And I also found the blog which documents the eulogies and the updates that Huzir sent us to keep us all informed of the proceedings. If you have the time, then I'd recommend reading at least the blog.

I've already mentioned Pierre no less than 51 times in 16 posts apparently, so I guess this one more isn't gonna hurt. (Pierre will probably be sneezing his nose off since I've mentioned him so many times!)

Also, just so all of you know, I treasure each and every one of my friends! :)

Chapter 371 - Books, Music & Life...
I'm currently mid-way through a few books - Midnight's Children (Salman Rushdie), Dogs don't bite when a growl will do, and Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close (Jonathan Safran Foer). The last book is the one that I'll probably finish first, given how intriguing it is. Written in the perspective of this nine-year old, it is every bit as interesting, and exciting, as watching the stock markets. ;p

Our fathers came out of the house and stood at the door, one of them asked, "What are we going to do?" I knew that our time together was almost over, I asked her if she liked sports, she asked me if I liked chess, I asked her if she liked fallen trees, she went home with her father, the center of me followed her, but I was left with the shell of me, I needed to see her again, I couldn't explain my need to myself, and that's why it was such a beautiful need, there's nothing wrong with not understanding yourself.

Indulge in the simple things in life. :)

-------------------------------

I'm Yours!

Speaking of indulging in the simple things in life:

I've been spending way too long checking my tongue in the mirror
And bending over backwards just to try to see it clearer
My breath fogged up the glass
And so I drew a new face and laughed
I guess what i be saying is there ain't no better reason
To rid yourself of vanity and just go with the seasons
It's what we aim to do
Our name is our virtue

Lyrics from "I'm Yours" by Jason Mraz

It's the latest addition to my CD collection (well, together with Amy Winehouse actually... ;p)

-------------------------------

On life. Life sometimes has a funny way of working things out. In my previous post, I mentioned that I'll be going to India on a YEP. But right now we're debating on whether we want to fly budget, or not. It's a saving of S$500, so I'd say why not! But then, there're different opinions relating to the issue, and honestly, I can't really see eye-to-eye with many of the concerns (fear of luggage getting stolen, too much work booking hotels/accommodation..) Well, I'd rather save the $500, and use it to backpack around India, if you were to ask me. $500 would last me for more than 1 week in India!!! We're now putting it to a vote, as to which option the rest of the team prefers. *keeps fingers crossed* make the right choice!

Kenny is also learning how to ride! (as in a motorcycle). So exciting! Had a circuit revision lesson today, under the blazing hot sun (wasn't it BURNING today?). Considering my current CEP ("career end-point") is a HOD (head-of-department) [roflcopter], I decided to make myself more employable by getting a bike license, so I can be one of those MacDonald's or Pizza Hut delivery guys next time. ;p

[although apparently, Kenny was once upon a time riding without a license! oops. caught red-handed!]

Ok lah. this post is now officially "too long"! (and dinner awaits..... hungweeeeeeeee)

Chapter 371 - 10 days gone by
In the 10 days gone by, it seems like I haven't really got any blog-worthy, although I did think of some stuff I could write about.

1. My Really Long Hair
Apparently, this is what some of my juniors remember to be a "kenny trait". So nowadays, when they think of Kenny (which i imagine is every other moment, hence I sneeze so much ;p), they think of my "long hair". So how long was it?

This photo was taken in May 2006, and I didn't cut it (my hair) till August I think it was... ;p

2. How Good is Your Engrish?
Did you think your engrish was quite powderful? Then checks out this marverous website!
Remember: Fall into the water carefully~~!

Or used tissue anyone?

3. India Mania!
Kenny will be heading to Sikkim, India for a YEP (Youth Expedition Project)! So pretty soon, expect to be hassled by me to buy t-shirts, bash tix, etc! Remember, buy buy buy! :)

Gosh, i really suck at blogging nowadays.

Chapter 370 - If I Had a Million Dollars!
(link to the Official 12 Lotus Website)

I went to watch 12 Lotus today with my mum! Well, given that I'm a fairly staunch supporter of local productions (and not so much the main stream ones, read: jack neo, though), I had to watch it lah. Besides, I usually enjoy Royston Tan's films..

But I must say I was slightly disappointed by 12 Lotus. The film started off with great promise - and made me feel so "kek sim" (damn, how do I translate "kek sim"?), because it was, to be it quite simply, in your face. Especially those scenes with Wang Yi Liang in... aiyo, so kek sim - you'd wanna get out of your seat and punch him in the face! (breathe kenny breathe!)

However, after the opening 40 minutes or so, the movie just kinda headed into a dreary bore. The storyline got a bit confusing (I thought it was quite a lousy story to begin with), got rather unrealistic, and the pace slowed to a crawl. And unfortunately, Royston didn't manage to pick up the pace from then on, and the movie ended.

Though having said that, the hokkien songs were quite power (I know my mum enjoyed it anyway. And the 12 Lotus song is not a made up song btw - source: my mum), and singing hokkien songs never sounded so cool! And just so I don't end this post the way 12 Lotus ended, I shall leave you with lyrics to the song: 一百万 (ji pa ban), so that you can sing along to it, after you've downloaded it from here!

(bridge)

(bridge)

Spaghetti

PS: If you want a free preview of a Royston Tan production, then check out my previous post on "CUT". (no, it's not pirated/illegal)

Chapter 369 - *cough* or Migraine?
I'm not really sure which one I prefer to have - a persistent cough, or a horrible migraine... I've been coughing for the 5 weeks that I've been back, and it kinda got worse earlier this week (because I caught a flu), and now I have a horrible migraine. Well, I suppose the best answer should be "none of the above". I hope this migraine goes away by tomorrow morning... :(

On NIE
I think NIE could do with a lesson on time-tabling... Because my timetable sucks big time! Well, for this week, because of the various e-Learning stuff, and such, I only have 7 hours of lessons. But guess what? I have 7 hours of lessons spread over 4 days of the week. Other than today (when I had no lessons), and Monday (when I only had 1 hour of lecture), I had to go to NIE every other day for just 2 hours of lessons. Couple that with a 2-hour journey (one-way), you can imagine how sucky my time table is. And for yesterday, I had a 8.30-10.30am Physics (read: very boring!) lesson, and then a meeting at 7.30pm - a 9-hour wait... So I decided to come home and take a nap (I was feeling really sick too...), even though that meant travelling for another 4 hours. (hmm, 4 hours in UK terms = a train ride from London to Manchester... or for that matter, a bus journey from Singapore to KL). Sighz.

So well, I think the Panadol is starting to take effect, and the pain from the migraine is slowing ebbing away (or masked). And I shall head off to bed early tonight because I have another 8.30-10.30am lesson tomorrow. Boohoo.
