Chapter 390 - In Singapore Without A Penny
We're no stranger to the terms "economic downturn", "recession", "retrenchment", etc, but how do you "beat those recession blues"?

Here's how:
Look out for free events
Don't mistake free events to be free gifts galore! Free events just means free entry to events - for example the recent STB promotion for free admission to the first 2009 visitors to various tourist attractions. Of course, there are other free events as well - such as the Korean Festival this weekend at the Singapore Art museum. Although it was a fairly small event, I must say it was quite enjoyable. From the little food stalls offering (selling) Korean delicacies, to performances, to handicrafts (you got to make paper korean dolls - although we were a little late, and this activity had started), to trying out the costumes. All for free!

Other than the Korean festival, there was also the Supreme Court open house, aka, "The Living Courthouse". I must say I was quite impressed with the organisation of this event. Not only were there ample volunteers (i think the volunteers were actually "volunteered", but well...) at hand to help out, there was also a wealth of activities going on. For example, there were trial reenactments in the courtrooms, a tour of the supreme courts (go early, cos these tickets go out really quickly... we didn't manage to get any), photo opportunities, and even free legal advice. Oh, and did I mention, this event is free too? ;p

If you're looking to go for an event today (for free of course), join the St Patrick's Day parade happening today. Gather at the Raffles Statue at 3pm today (beside the Victoria Theatre/Concert Hall), and join in for some marching and outdoor fun!
