Chapter 173 - Two weeks in brief
Sorry, I haven't actually noticed that two weeks have gone by just like that..... So i'm gonna do a two-week in brief, in pictures for now... ;p
Last Wednesday (24 Jan), it snowed! I woke up and was all ready to go out coxing, and for some reason I decided to look out of my window, and I saw a blanket of whiteness all around. And I was like, f**k, there's so much frost, it's gonna be freezing. And then I realised it wasn't frost, cos you don't get frost on concrete! and then realised in my sleepiness that it was snow. And apparently, it was all across Europe and did cause quite a few accidents...
But being the boaties that we are, snow or sunshine, day or night, we still train....
That's how much snow we had.. It was a lot for Cambridge standard. I think this was as much snow as there was in the whole of last year....
And then on the weekend, I went up to Old Trafford to catch the FA Cup match of Man U vs Portsmouth, which Man U won 2-1. (duhz. I would have been terribly disappointed if they lost, considering the effort it took to get up to Manchester....) And the match was amazing. Would have been better if I knew any of the cheers or songs they sung. But the goals were absolutely brilliant, especially when we were seating right ON the goal line... (must say this cos my sister's bf is a man-u fan apparently... ;p)
The match... I didn't get very good shots during the match I think...
John, with whom I went with....
And Kenny! after the match... Oh, and after the match, we managed to catch a glimpse of Ronaldo, Smith and some of the 1st team players who weren't playing, who came out on the pitch to train.... cool.. And nope, I'm not a Man U fan.. seriously...
And the weekend didn't just end there, cos my cousin, Sin Yee, who's doing an exchange in france came to visit me for a couple of days... And I took her to the NatSci formal at Queen's on Sunday...
The NatScis formal at Queens...
On Monday, I took Sin Yee on a tour around Cambridge, and quite lucky too cos it was a beautiful day... And apparently, the flowers/plants are a little confused by the bout of warm weather we had, and thinking it was spring, started blooming!
Strange isn't it, considering it's supposed to be winter!
Sin Yee and I at King's College with King's Chapel in the background...
And then it was another crazy week, which included a steamboat dinner, lots of work on the CUMSA Annual Ball and AGM, and lots of coxing/rowing and v little academic work done... :( A lot of rowing cos this weekend was the Newnham Short Course, which I was coxing two boats for - Women's I and Men's III.
The Women's 1st VIII after the race. Sarah was a little disappointed cos she felt she wasn't as tired as she had expected it to be, but well.. c'est la vie...
The Men's III boat rowing back after the race.... from a cox's perspective... :)
So that's Kenny's two weeks in brief....
