Chapter 416 - The Haze
Well, we all know that the haze is back, and I'm not even sure if my nose is runny now cos of my yet-to-be-recovered flu, or due to the haze. But in any case, there's so much talk about it everywhere. Even my gmail background, which supposedly updates itself according to the weather in Singapore has changed to a hazy background:

Chapter 415 - A Series of Unfortunate Events II
I was looking at my previous posts to check my chapter I'm on and I realised that my last post was also about unfortunate events - although in the previous post, the events happened to me, but not in this post, thankfully.

I've just gotten home from a 10-year secondary school reunion, and I must say that it was an enjoyable evening. But I will write about this next time, because I wanted to write about other stuff in this post.

Anyway, during my gathering just now, I found out that three of my batch mates had passed away in the last 10 years that we had left RI. It came as a shock to me, because I hadn't even heard about it. I didn't know any of them though (I think). We observed 1 minute of silence for them, and then sang the Institution Anthem thereafter....

Also, earlier today, I was a little saddened to hear that a 3rd year medical student at Cambridge had also met with a hit-and-run accident in the UK, in London. Her body was dragged for some 2km before the driver had stopped apparently. She happens to be the daughter of Tan Tarn How, whom I remember Uncle Gerry (from Cho Mee) used to tell me about. (Tell me about Dr Tan Tarn How that is...)

Thirdly, Esther told me that one of her close friend's father had passed away in Aug, after a diagnosis only a month earlier. The death came quite suddenly, so not many people knew about it.

Lastly, Mrs Lee Kuan Yew also passed away this evening. I feel relieved in a sense for Mr Lee Kuan Yew, because I recall reading in the papers how he had been troubled by his wife's illness for a period of time now, and how he was really worried about her. But I thought it was still very sweet of him to sit by her bedside in the evening, and to read poems to her after he had come home from work. I must say that their love for each other is something that we should all emulate.

Somewhat a sad post, and my condolences to all the families of the deceased. It just reminds me of how transient life can be, and how we should all live life to the fullest, and make use of every opportunity that we had to be thankful for all that we are given. So take a moment now, to say thanks for all that you have, and to offer words of affection to the loved ones around you. :)
